This is a different app than the first Oregon Trail. This one looks like a Farmville clone where the game is "free" but has artificial barriers that require $$$.

This is not the Oregon Trail we all love!! Its more of a Frontier ville (Facebook game).

It's not like the Apple II version but alot closer in spirit. It's $1. I have a feeling this "Settler" version is meant to be "free" where the money is earned on the back end through in-app purchases. |

It sounds like the ORIGINAL Oregon Trail was a great game, so I looked it up on iTunes. But, now it appears they've upgraded it and with the new upgrade they want you to spend real $$$ to use in the game and a lot of people are upset about it.
Anyone know if it's possible to download the original, non-upgraded version from somewhere somehow? Update: I see there's an Android version ($4.99) and the reviewer doesn't mention spending real $ other than to buy the game. This review was in February 2011.
