Restaurant.com $10 gift - Feed it Forward

Some places don't require gratuity to them. There is a bbq place that I use this at that isn't a place with a server so they don't do gratuity

so they give you free $10 gift card to use at restaurant.com, and then you use that to buy a gift card for a certain restauraunt for like $2?

Understand that these are in no way "gift cards" that are available from restaurant.com. These are effectively coupons that they generally charge for, much like those in the Entertainment books. That's why they always come with minimum purchases. The restaurant doesn't see ANY oney back from restaurant.com, which is why they limit it. They participate to try to get you in to spend money. And, of course, they hope you'll come back. They also tend to limit the number of uses on these and other similar coupons (like the ones in the Entertainment books).

And folks, please remember it's the holidays, and don't short-change your servers. Please tip on the FULL price of what you ordered, even if the restaurant doesn't require it. Standard tips vary around the country from 15-20%, but 18-20% is becoming the standard, since servers in the majority of states get between $2 and $4 per hour, which is less than half of minimum wage.

And before this becomes the usual fight about tips being optional, please understand that there are lots of non full service dining options available if you don't want to tip. The cost of foods in full service restaurants in America is cheaper than it is in comparable restaurants in Europe and elsewhere because there they pay their servers a living wage. In the US, it's assumed that the tips will cover a living wage for the servers (and bussers and bartenders and food runners), and items are priced accordingly. (If you don't believe me, just try to find a burger in ANY restaurant in Scandinavia -- where I just visited -- for under $25 or a mediocre steak for under $50! Good luck in that hunt, even in pubs and lower service establishments!)

so it would use the entire $10, not just $2 - but you still get it for free

Can you combine the $10 credit with coupons? For example, if a restaurant certificate costs $10 and I have a 70% off coupon, will is use only $3 of my credit?

Link worked fine for me. Evidently you can give up to 40 $10 egift cards per day?! Tried it. Wondering what the catch is

So I've gone through this about three times now just because I wanted to see if I could, and I sent my personal emails all "a gift" and then redeemed it through the link in the email. Instead of signing up for a new Restaurant.com account, I logged in to my sending account once I picked out the restaurant and began the checkout process.

It allowed me to use these codes for my own account three times now - I suppose I could use a bunch of temporary addresses to send myself 40 gifts and make 400 dollars in gift cards a day.......

I have not had a problem using gift cards and coupons at the same time. The gift card is a form of payment, not a discount. Its not like you are double couponing.
