I need a replacement for my cheap $20 aluminum tripod, and this looks like a pretty great deal for what it is. Not a fancy carbon fiber tripod or anything, but a definite step up from the cheap crap I have now.
I love the tripod, and I use it all the time. I'm considering grabbing a 2nd one just to have for situations I'd need it. That said, the bag it comes in sucks. The actual form and how it carries on your shoulder is nice, but the zipper broke after about a month of moderate use. Still completely worth it even with the bag breaking
I picked this up for the same price a few months ago and it is a pretty good tripod for the price. Not the most sturdy tripod in the world but it held my DSLR+battery grip+somewhat heavy super wide angle lens just fine. Very lightweight too.
Got this on a slickdeal a while ago. Don't let the name mislead you. It's not professional by any means. However, for the price, it's great. It holds my 7D with grip and a smaller lens with no problem. Is it rock solid? No. Is it better than what you usually get for $20-30? Definitely.
This was the 2nd tripod that I purchased. My first was a $15 piece of crap that lasted me about 4 weeks. I then bought this one thinking that there was no need to spend $>100 on a tripod. This tripod works well for smaller bodies and light lenses. I was shooting a Rebel XT at the time with a small zoom lens and everything was great. I then upgraded my rig to a 50D and heavier lenses and started noticing that when turning the camera in portrait mode the ballhead would slip down. I also noticed that whenever I got the camera in the position I wanted, it would always move after tightening down the ballhead. I could remove the ballhead from the tripod and tighten some things up to make it better, but that became frustrating quickly.
All this time I had always read the sayings that if you buy nice, you only buy once. This made me mad because I saw no reason in spending >$100 on a tripod. After my experiences with the Dolica though I finally bought a Manfrotto setup. There really is a world of difference.
So not to say this tripod is not worth the money (b/c I think it is) but it seems that in the camera world you can never get away from 'you get what you pay for'. Just my thoughts since I would have saved $50 if I had just bought the nice tripod in the 1st place.
