$79.99/mo for Verizon FIOS Tripple Play (TV, Internet, Phone) + $300 Visa card

Wonder if I'd be able to take advantage of this, just having signed up for the double play bundle two weeks ago, just TV and Internet. Think they'd consider it an upgrade and allow it...? Been trying but apparantly the My Verizon (my account) page is having issues. SD effect?

Yeah, I've thought about running an HTPC. We have 3 TVs, but two are old and don't use HD. One of those only has the digital adapter box attached to it, so there's no guide or anything, but it's free.

We have 3 non HD TV's in our house & when I build the triple play bundle they charge me $3.99 per digital adapter per month which I thought was crazy since it's not a set top box. You are definitely getting them for free?

I'd like to know more on this...cause paying $16 a month per box vs another option that pays itself off probably in a year, Im all ears.

Don't believe anything Verizon says on the phone. If you don't have it in writing either through the online order form or a chat log there will end up being some "mistake" and you will end up paying a lot more than you were told, with no recourse since you have no proof.

We have 5 TV's in the house and we only pay $3.99/month to rent the CableCard. We do our own decryption (HTPC with Windows 7 and Ceton InifniTV4 tuner and 4x ClearQAM tuners) and distribution through the home network (Media Center Extenders) . We get all the channels we are entitled to, except for on-demand, and have to call in to get Pay-per-View.

It sure beats paying $60/month to have a whole house DVR ($20/month) and 4 additional HD boxes ($10/month each).

If you have a TV that has a Clear QAM tuner, you can pick up "basic broadcast" channels, which are the same channels you can get with an antenna. Everything else is encrypted, and you need a CableCard.

Verizon has it all figured out when it come to CableCard in a PC. They have a utility that you run to activate the CableCard that you can now pick up at the Verizon FIOS store. No need to have techs to come out.

Verizon's deals almost never include the price of the set top boxes. That's how they get you. The multi-room DVR is $20/month and each additional HD box is $10/month. After your contract expires in 2 years, expect your bill to go up significantly (if not double).

ummm, if you read the post you replied to, we only pay $3.99 per month in equipment rental charges.

We DO NOT rent any boxes from Verizon. We do our own decryption a distribution through the home network.

Our basic bill is $65.99/month, plus $3.99/month for the CableCard + $6 or $7 in taxes for Triple Play with HD Prime, 20/5 Internet, and local/long distance/international land line phone service.

We are not under a contract whatsoever. We can leave whenever we want to, but since this is thebest deal around, we are staying with Verizon.
