based on specs solely, i would say yes -> very much.
because although you can get core i5's for ~$500, most have less ram, either no usb 3.0 or HDMI, and the camera tends to be 0.3 mp.

However, looking on reviews and youtube vids, it seems it has a low battery life (rated at 4 hrs, real time = 2 hrs; and somewhat cheapish build quality).

Sure seems like a good deal to me. I5 with hdmi and usb 3.0 for roughly $425 after tax (rate pending) when you factor in the $125 amex card and purchase the $400 gc to receive the $75 promo giftcard.

i post this solely to compare to yesterday's frontpage dell 15R deal. if that one is being loved, might as well get this one since that one died already

Dell Inspiron computers are crap. My wife has had her laptop for about a year and had the following problems:

Battery failed - sent me a refurbished replacement that holds at max 3hrs charge
Harddrive failed x2- sent me 2 refurbished ones
Memory failed - sent me refurbished
Left click button springs broke and button is useless

and the latest it won't boot past the Windows loading screen, have to reformat tomorrow.

I never had a problem with a Dell desktop, but based on my experience and my brothers GF's experience with their Inspiron, they are pieces of crap that aren't worth any amount of money.

Is it wise to apply for the $400 GC to receive the $75 promotional gift card deal? Some folks were left holding both when the black Friday deal expired before they received the GC's via e-mail. Some received their GC in minutes others many many hours. Of course they can use the GC,s now but this deal could expire before you receive your GC. My guess is that this deal will last through cyber Monday or we may see even a better deal on CM. The $75 promotional gift card deal expires on Monday 11/28

I also wonder if we could stack the $25 off coupon 4J4XPNDZ1PKR2B along with the other GC's by using the online chat as used for BF deal.


The check out page does not allow more than one gift card. Here are the instructions to use multiple GC

Yes I would say this is as good of a deal as BF with 2 more gigs of RAM, Adobe Premiere elements 9 and McAfee® SecurityCenter for 36 months.
