The wiki definitely needs an update. I had the old client running and I finally noticed it hadn't downloaded a new work unit in a few days, and I go into find the new v7 client. Not sure how I feel about it so far. SMP started immediately, GPU was "waiting for idle" I need to see what it does to the heat in my machine, cooling has never worked well for me..
I tried to get the new version 7 client working, but I had issues with it. Currently using the FAH GPU Tracker V2 for my video card folding and the old version 6 client for my SMP folding. One weekend I might go back and see if I can get the v7 client working properly. The wiki does need an update.

I left my computer on all night (I normally do).. the new client has completed one SMP unit, but only got 1% done on GPU client, and now has more "waiting for idle" I don't know if there's a way I can force it into idle? or do I just have to turn it up to "full" when I'm going away?

I think it should start folding after 5 minutes of inactivity (key strokes, etc.). Do you have a screen saver or anything else running in the background? If you set it to full it should run both full time though.

when I set it to run on full, the whole system was unstable, it was lagging on keystroke entry, and the CPU temp was around 140F

What is your current setup and are any components overclocked?

Any special trick to make FAH Tracker v2 work? Every time I try, it downloads clients then fails saying to check my internet connection. I gave up trying to use it as it does not look like it's been maintained for a while. The forums there are dead.

Are you folding with a Fermi or Kepler GPU? If you are folding with a Kepler like I am, try this [evga.com].

i5 760 2.8GHz
8GB RAM
nvidia GTX460
Windows 7 64-bit

somewhere in the last couple of hours it found some 'idle' time on the GPU. it's up to 75% done on the first WU now

At first I thought the temp seemed high, but I think the upper limit for that processor is 70C or 158F so that CPU temp seems to be ok. So is either the CPU or GPU overclocked?

Hmm, I find that very odd then unless there is a problem with your video card. Out of curiosity, have you tried deleting the work unit to force a request of a new one? I had an issue the other day with a certain WU causing unstable machine errors even on stock settings. I ended up having to delete it since my machine didn't like it for one reason or another and I was fine after that.

it's been like this as long as I've had the set up. it's never been useable with GPU and SMP running flat out, too much lag on even basic things

Looks like interest in folding for SD team is fading. No posts to this thread in 5 months.
I finally got my main rig up and running with the GTX 560 Ti. Between that 550 paired with the 6 core CPU, and my other smaller rig, I'm hitting about 45K - 48K per day.
But the heat in my work area is too much. I may have to shut it down until Sept or Oct when the weather cools back down. My house is about 80 degrees, but my office is running 92 degrees in the daytime due to folding.
