White Glove from Amazon?

Has anyone ordered anything that included the "White Glove Delivery" from Amazon.com?

I ordered a TV last week, and they called to setup a time to deliver and set it up. I have to pick a day, they deliver between 10:00AM and 2:00PM Monday through Friday.

Well guess what? I work Monday-Friday 8-5. I asked if they could drop it off at the apartment offices, they said NO. I asked if I could pick it up from their dock, they said NO. I'd hate to burn a day of vacation just to wait on a TV. Even if I knew what time between 10-2 they would be there, I live too far from my work to go home.

Anyone know of a way to pull this off? I'm trying to see if a buddy will wait for it at my apartment, but we'll see...10-2 is a quite a time stretch.

I had a TV delivered that way. Since i live close to work I asked them to call me when they were about 20 minutes away. They did that and set up the TV for me.

How long did it take to do the "Setup"? If it's like a 10-15 minute deal I could probably pull it off (I live 30 min away from my work).

Any longer than that would be an issue.

It was fairly quick. prob about 15 minutes. They unbox it and set it up. You do the hooking up...or at least I did.

Welcome to the world of mail order. That's part of the hidden cost of ordering something big and expensive.. wasting a vacation day and hoping they show up with it on the day they say they will.

If something is too big to UPS, it's sometimes better to pay a little bit more and buy it from a local store instead of off the net.

I prefer to look at as a full day off to play with the new toy(s)

It worked out well for me. There was no way I could have gotten the TV lifted out of the box let alone setting it up by myself. I really appreciated the white glove delivery.

And not having to get it in and out of my car...priceless.

You can tell them to just unbox it. The guy I had wanted to hook it up and make sure everything worked before he left.
He did call 30 minutes before coming. Then brought it in, hooked it up and went through all the channels.
