Lots of gems in this thread... Best Deal seems to be to have Amazon price-match...
Here's what I think is the best outcome:

1) Don't forget the free Family 6-pack of glasses (4 come with the TV, so you'll have a total of 10) Use this link [amazon.com].
2) Being an Amazon Prime member seems to be the recipe for Free Shipping.
3) Call the large item phone number (Thank, The.Walrus). See below.
4) Enjoy your new TV... I bought the same a month ago and am completely pleased... Picked up locally, so I paid tax. This is a great deal.

Here's how you do it.

1. Put the TV in your cart. It must be sold by Amazon, not any other seller.
2. Call their large item specialists at 866-423-5355.
3. Give them your info so that they can see your cart.
4. While on the phone with them, complete the order at Amazon's price.
5. They will then put a note on your account to adjust the price when the TV ships.
6. The total price will be Fry's sale price plus Fry's shipping charge.
7. When you get a shipment notification, be on the lookout for an email stating that your price has been adjusted. It's done manually, but Amazon will follow through.

I got my price adjustment before the TV arrived at my doorstep.

LG Service Mode Instructions (for those who want to unlock hidden THX Settings on this TV)

Quote from sKwiD View Post :
Disclaimer: First off I'm not responsible for anybody bricking their TV. This is just information that I've gathered to do this on my own.

Alright so you guys can try to Google "LG Service Menu" for more info, but I wasn't able to find that much. I referred to these threads for help:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/3d-hdtvs...600-5.html
http://avsforum.com/avs-vb/showth...1&page=169
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/sh...458&page=4

So pretty much what we're trying to do is access the LG Service menu. In order to you that you must have the "In-Step" button programmed to your remote. I'm going to refer to this as the "magic button" instead. In order to achieve that you can:

a) Obtain an official LG Service Remote like the one mentioned here: http://www.electronica-pt.com/ser...LW5600.pdf

b) Program that button into your Logitech Harmony http://openlgtv.org.ru/wiki/index...us_/_modes

c) Buy a cheap RCA universal remote. Specifically one that can be programmed with a 5-digit code (some are 4-digit only). The code you will need to program is 11265. Check this site to find out which remotes are compatible: http://rcaaudiovideo.com/remotecodefinder/

From my own experience I was unable to program my Logitech 650 using the Wiki tutorial. I ended up going to Wal Mart and found a RCA RCR312WR. I'll have to double check that product number when I get home but I'm pretty positive it's right. Anyway it was like $8. When I got home Iprogrammed the remote using code 11265. After that I pressed the "Guide" button (this is the Magic Button that we all need) and a pop-up appears asking for a 4-digit passcode. That passcode is 0413. Voila, you now have access to LG's Service Menu. A new pop-up screen should have appeared with a bunch of numbers and options. I believe option #3 and option #6 is all you need to access the THX. In option #3 you need to replace the 0 with a 1 next to THX. In option #6 you need to replace the 0 with a 1 next to THX 3D. I've read that there's also a DVR function somewhere that you can activate too, but I haven't done that. Other than options I wouldn't mess around unless you want to screw up your settings and brick your TV. It's a pretty simple process. Hardest part for me was getting access to the "magic button."

So that unlocked 3 modes: THX Cinema, THX Bright Room, and THX 3D. I can definitely tell that the colors are beyond better than any CNET or online calibration settings I've tried. I've only viewed the THX 3D a few times since then also, but it appears to have improved overall, not just in color but also in 3D effect and motion.

Feel free to put this in the Wiki if you feel that it's helpful.

Good luck everybody!

Ughh, really wanted a 60" for my parents... replacing a 50" LG Plasma w/ a defective x/y sustain board so I'm hesitant on purchasing another LG.

Debating if I should hold off as Xmas draws closer hoping for a better deal... Input?

From what I've read, the LG LED-LCDs are a lot more reliable than the LG plasmas.

If anything, you can purchase now and return after 2 weeks (IIRC, that is the return policy timeline for Fry's). If you're looking for 60", maybe hope that the previous Sharp LC60-LE6300U drops down to $999 again? Not a Smart TV, but not a problem if your parents have a ATV, Roku, PS3, etc. After tweaking the settings, it's definitely great for the price (and comparable to Sony, Samsung, LG).

I have the aforementioned Sharp and had the LG 55LV5500 right before it. The Sharp's been great! As for the LG, I had issues with bleeding and flashlighting so I was going to exchange it for another of the same model since it seems like the majority of people don't have the same problem, but now I might just get the 55LW5600 instead with the price now decreased.

I am having the panel replaced in the 47LW6500 I bought a month ago. It has flashlighting issues on the left side of the screen. I was told by the tech who came by this is very common with many LED panels and mine wasn't particularly bad. That being said LG authorized a new panel with no issues at all. I was told my panel is on backorder so it makes me believe I am not the only one with this issue. I may end up with a replacement TV if the backorder last >10days. I am not sold on LED other than the thin/light nature as the 2007 Philips LCD it replaced actually had a sharper, more vibrant picture.

For those of you waiting for this TV, which is great (bought one in Nov.) 55lw5600 Frys has it on sale again for 1099. Shipping is available for those not near a Frys store,
Shipping to NY was 129. (they flew mine from san jose to newark and then trucked it to my house, unpacked it, hung it on my wall and made sure it was working/connected to my direct tv,,,which was worth the 129 shipping charges. Also no taz for me, amazon charges tax to my state so they would price match the 1099, but would add the shipping( because that is part of the price) and then would charge me tax, For those of you in states amazon does not charge tax,,they will match 1099 plus shipping

Thanks for the input... I've only owned Samsung LCDs/DLPs, (1) Panasonic Plasma, and (1) LG LCD - By far I've been happy with Samsung in terms of PQ and have had absolutely no complaints however I can say the same with my two LG/Panasonic LCD/Plasma - Ughh, decisions.
