I wouldn't touch these esp. the refurb without a squaretrade warranty
MicroCenter was rated #1 by Consumer Reports and specifically calls out ease of returns. I've never had an issue, even when it was obviously my fault. On my refurbished desktop I got from them (think it was a Dell?) They sold me an extended warranty for $99 for 3 years. Died 2 years in, replaced with original purchase price w/ in store credit.
I can tell you how you can go wrong with a MicroCenter refurb
I bought a refurbed Vizio two weeks ago. The particular model has a known issue with the sound and picture not being in sync. A lot of people have had this issue resolved by getting a firmware update from Vizio. I tried to do that. However, Vizio support needed the serial number because different manufacturing runs of the same product get different updates. When MicroCenter "refurbed" the unit, they obliterated the original serial number and manufacturing date and put a new serial number on using a sticker. Vizio suggests I get the original serial number from MicroCenter. Contact MicroCenter. The online chat csr insists they do not change serial numbers on refurb products and tells me to call the store. Call store, eternity on hold, call disconnected. Call store again. Same result. Email MicroCenter support. Amazingly, get response the same day. They promise to find original serial number. A day or two passes. Pack up set, return to MicroCenter. Thankfully, full refund without big "Restocking fee."
One week later, get email. They are still trying to track down the original serial number.
They did give me a full refund. What I can't get back is the time spent to buy the set and return it and the hours spent trying to solve what may have been a very simple issue.
