Report: Rep. Jackson offered deal for Senate seat

Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., D-Ill., either knew of efforts or directed someone to raise campaign money for then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich in return for Jackson's appointment to the U.S. Senate, an investigative report released today alleges.

Investigators said they learned Jackson used his congressional offices to mount a "public campaign" for the Senate, a possible violation of federal law and House rules that bar the use of official resources for political activities.

With the release of that report, the House ethics committee said today it will continue its review into Jackson, a nine-term lawmaker once considered a natural fit for the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama when he won the presidency.

Charles Rangel got "censured," only to be be honored a year later by Congress and get a statue of himself put up. Amazing.

I can give you a long, long list of Republican corruption cases that occurred in office. Corruption is a human failing. It doesn't have anything to do with someone's political affiliation.

To be truthful, though, Democratic corruption during the Obama years has been vastly lower than Relublican corruption during the Bush years. Maybe they looked at how easily people have gotten caught at it during the Bush years; I don't know.

It just seems that way because this administration has raised the bar in regards to corruption. There is an order of magnitude increase in rampant corruption in all areas of this administration. Just like they outspent all previous administrations combines, they are also aiming to out-corrupt them.

If corruption was measured on a scale of 1-10, Bush (2)'s administration would be somewhere around like a 4 (USCC). But with Obama's administration, the high number increased to like 100. 10 was just too low to make sense with the level of incompetence and corruption we see now. The latest corruption studies (USCC - US Center for Corruption) pegs this administration at around a 99 on the 1 to 100 scale.

But this study was for the first term. They have already said that the latest studies are showing that we need to increase the bar again for term two to at least 1 to 1000. Early reports are suggesting a corruption level close to 999 out of 1000. So they may again need to increase the top bar to maybe 10,000. We'll be watching for USCC's next study.
