this case is particularly interesting IMHO. Blagojevich was arrested in 2009, tried twice and ultimately found guilty in 2011. Burris, Obamas original replacement, was shown to have made deals with Blago in exchange for the seat and stepped down. Despite commiting perjury.... no charges were pursued. then... 5 years later, Jackson is finally held accountable.

Why did it take so long to go after Jackson and why was Burris never punished?

Your question attempts to conflate two different issues. Whatever possible involvement Jackson had in the Blago-seat-selling debacle has nothing to do with the current charges brought against him, which are related *solely* to misappropriating campaign funds for personal use.
