I keep getting logged out

I continuously have to log in, even if I check the box to keep myself logged in.

Sometimes I have to re-login after just one click. Sometimes I have to re-login the next time I visit the site. Getting annoying. What's going on?

Using IE9 but I've been using the same browser for a while and this is a new problem over the last week or so.

Try clearing Slickdeals your cookies.

Just for shits and giggles, try in either FF or Chrome to see if you have the same result. Also, do you have any programs such as CCleaner set to run at certain intervals, which would wipe out the cookies? Oh, and do you have the "Clear Cookies on Exit" checked? If so, uncheck it and restart the computer and try again.

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I'd just post in this older one.

I too have trouble with being logged out every single day. I don't have to log back in, but my Time Spent is reset a few times a day. I'm using FF 9, I don't have it set to delete cookies ever (I do it manually if ever), and I don't have any cleaner programs that clear temp files or cookies. Any ideas?

If you don't have to log in again, you weren't logged out.

Can you explain why my Time Spent is reset every day then, if it's not being caused by my being logged out? I've visited SD every day for months, but my Time Spent is never correct. Any help would be appreciated.

When you say your time is 'reset' every day, do you mean that it's reset back to 0, or that it's losing time? Or just that it's not counting a day as a day?

Which to me seems about right for a fairly new user.

Remember, Time Spent is not how long nor how many days that you're logged in to SD. It's actually an accumulation of how much time you spend actively browsing the site on each visit. So just because you're logged in for a day does not mean that it counts as a day for Time Spent. I gave some references and examples of this from the mods in this post here, if that helps to clarify.

Ahhh... I understand now. I did think that Timespent was supposed to indicate how long I've been logged in. But Timespent actually measuring my time actively browsing makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clarifying.

The only other trouble I have with being "logged out" is where the front page normally will have the "New Deals Since Your Last Visit" marker below all the posts since your last visit. That disappears daily (sometimes multiple times per day). Maybe it's supposed to? Like you said, I am a fairly new "user". I've been visiting this site for years, but I didn't actually become a user till a short while ago.

As for the 'New since your last visit' on the Front Page issue, that I don't know, unfortunately. I don't visit the FP very often, but since I'm usually on here multiple times a day, there aren't many that are 'new' for me.

I don't think that's a log in issue, though, since you said that you didn't have to log back in. I think, but could very well be wrong, that the Front Page posts will only have that marker if it's new since the last time you visited the site, not just since you visited the Front Page itself. So say you visited the site four hours ago and checked the FP. Then you come back three hours after that but don't check the FP that time. Then you visit again an hour after that and do visit the FP. It will only show the 'new since your last visit' indicator on posts that are new to the Front Page during that single last hour that you were gone from the site, and not on all posts that were new since you visited the FP four hours ago. If there were no new Front Page posts during that last hour that you were gone, then it won't say that any of the posts are new, even though it had been 4 hours since you went to the Front Page itself.

At least, that's how I think it works. But again, I could totally be wrong on that, since I tend to hit the forums more than the front page. Hopefully a mod, or someone who's more familiar with how the New Post indicator on the Front Page works, will have a better answer for you if I am wrong.
