Dell XPS 17 Thoughts?

I have been looking for a desktop replacement laptop recently, and Dell has the following XPS laptop [dell.com] on sale...

I'm thinking this is WAY more of a machine than I need, but, the near $500 discount made me bounce

Just curious as to some thoughts on the XPS if anyone had any?

My roommate has the 17 and it's basically the same as the 15 but with a greater screen. He also hasn't had any problems with it. It's great for gaming, too!

899.99 for XPS 17 with i5 & 550M GPU is ok.

But you can better deals like the 849.99 ASUS G73 i7 2630QM 17.3" 8GB 750GB 7200rpm 460M [newegg.com] and 549.99 i5 15.6" 4GB 500GB GT540M Ends 12/31/11 [newegg.com]

This ASUS has seriously more buck banging than the Dell. laugh out loud

+Better Quad Core CPU
+More RAM(+4GB) and +250GB
+20% Better GPU
+Can out game the 1499.99 XPS 17 at dell.com

If your going to get the dell, look at the dell outlet and try to find a 10% off coupon on this site or google it.

By the way, what do you plan to do on this desktop replacement? :?:
There are penalty of laptops that will do the various task well for 349.99-429.99.
