HP employees will have a chance to purchase a refurbished HP TouchPad via eBay before the sale is announced to the general public. Specifically, the TouchPads will be offered through one of HP's newest marketplaces for close-out and refurbished HP products, the new HP eBay Store <http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard> .
look around
This product will NOT be available through any other HP stores, such as the Home & Home Office store, Small & Medium Business store, HP EPP or the HP Business Outlet. PLEASE DO NOT CALL ANY OF THESE CALL CENTERS BECAUSE IT DISRUPTS REGULAR SALES ACTIVITIES AND THEY'RE UNABLE TO PROCESS AN ORDER FOR THE TOUCHPADS ANYWAY.

In an effort to give HP employees first chance at a very limited supply of refurbished TouchPads, there will be a short delay between when the product is posted live for sale on eBay and when the general public is notified of the sale.

Refurbished HP TouchPads, both 16GB and 32GB versions, will be posted for sale through the HP eBay store at: 6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11th. If you are interested in purchasing a refurbished TouchPad, please make yourself a reminder to log-on to eBay a few minutes before the sale starts to make your purchase.

The TouchPads will be available for sale here (under "Laptops"):

http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard <http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard>

Important information about this sale:

http://edm.hp.21torr.com/media.php/_21EMS/x.gif

.

There will be both 16GB and 32GB versions available, selling at a fixed price of $99 and $149 respectively.while supplies last.

.

There is also an optional 3-piece Accessory bundle with a Case, Charging Dock & Wireless Keyboard for $79 (est. value $199.97).

.

Purchases must be made through the HP eBay store via PayPal only. If you do not have eBay or PayPal accounts, create your accounts before the sale begins to avoid delays.

.

The product offer will be announced to the general public on Monday morning and is expected to sell-out quickly thereafter, so don't delay.

.

There will be a limit of two (2) TouchPad SKUs per eBay member, sold on a first come, first served basis.

.

This sale is not associated with any HP-sponsored employee purchase program and there are no additional discounts for HP employees off the HP eBay store price.

.

All sales are final. There are no returns unless product arrives defective.

.

The refurbished TouchPad product comes with a 90-day limited warranty.

Going live:
6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11th.

Good luck to everyone...

I don't think refurb TP's will have much value unless you really want one for personal use. I have tried to convince myself that I like the TP 3x now... I just don't. I have some playbooks being delivered today and don't expect to be blown away by those either. I need to just enjoy my iP2 until the 3 releases... I also think that the absence of cellular service kills the competition as well (for me). I've been a tablet user since iPad1 launch and have found that once I got used to the added utility, not having access to it at all times greatly reduced the glamour of it all... A tablet with unlimited cell data and apps galore is a very wealthy experience and business tool.

Again, good luck to those that are trying to gift them for themselves or others. I will watch from the stands unless someone I know tells me they want one.

Cheers for another shot...

sorry for not reading through all 21 pages. But has it been said if there will be a limit on how many you can purchase?

how did the case crack? was it cheap material or cheaply made?
Yes, cheaply made plastic casing-- HP even transfers you to a "special team" for the hairline cracks issue when you call for a repair. They, however, do a really good job of handling the repair though.

I work for HP. The OP posted the email they sent out to all the HP employees that didn't get a Touchpad for $99 a couple months ago when they closed them out. This deal not as good as the original.

1. It's refurbished.
2. It's being sold on Ebay.

When HP had the first offering, I had planned on buying one giving it as a gift, but they went out of stock quickly. Now I'm not even interested because it is refurbished and from ebay. Why don't they just sell it at the HP store?

well, did you not notice that hp's site stayed crippled over a day when they originally sold these on hp.com.. would you rather have HP again looses other profitable sales while the site is unusable because of all the people trying to buy loss making touchpads.

i think selling on ebay is a wise decision..

Because they don't want their servers to implode again! They just can't handle the load and taking the entire website out makes them lose money in other areas, probably.

The CM7 builds not not 100% same. My touchpad would reboot intermittently. It was very annoying and almost unusable because of that. I sold it off and bought Acer Iconia. Very happy!! Touchpad sucks!!

Haters gotta hate I have had mine for a few months and I have not had a single problem with it neither SOD or reboots. It has been great you should have waited for the new build.

I will be careful with these refurbished, it seems like HP never really fixes them right.
While mine is only one story, HP did right by me:

My brand new 32GB Touchpad would not charge on a Touch Stone (tried two units). Called HP, they overnighted a return box (first morning delivery), prepaid.

Got my fixed TP back about 3-4 days later
