HP employees will have a chance to purchase a refurbished HP TouchPad via eBay before the sale is announced to the general public. Specifically, the TouchPads will be offered through one of HP's newest marketplaces for close-out and refurbished HP products, the new HP eBay Store <http://stores.ebay.com/hewlettpackard> .
look around
This product will NOT be available through any other HP stores, such as the Home & Home Office store, Small & Medium Business store, HP EPP or the HP Business Outlet. PLEASE DO NOT CALL ANY OF THESE CALL CENTERS BECAUSE IT DISRUPTS REGULAR SALES ACTIVITIES AND THEY'RE UNABLE TO PROCESS AN ORDER FOR THE TOUCHPADS ANYWAY.

In an effort to give HP employees first chance at a very limited supply of refurbished TouchPads, there will be a short delay between when the product is posted live for sale on eBay and when the general public is notified of the sale.

Refurbished HP TouchPads, both 16GB and 32GB versions, will be posted for sale through the HP eBay store at: 6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11th. If you are interested in purchasing a refurbished TouchPad, please make yourself a reminder to log-on to eBay a few minutes before the sale starts to make your purchase.

The TouchPads will be available for sale here (under "Laptops"):

Important information about this sale:

.

There will be both 16GB and 32GB versions available, selling at a fixed price of $99 and $149 respectively.while supplies last.

.

There is also an optional 3-piece Accessory bundle with a Case, Charging Dock & Wireless Keyboard for $79 (est. value $199.97).

.

Purchases must be made through the HP eBay store via PayPal only. If you do not have eBay or PayPal accounts, create your accounts before the sale begins to avoid delays.

.

The product offer will be announced to the general public on Monday morning and is expected to sell-out quickly thereafter, so don't delay.

.

There will be a limit of two (2) TouchPad SKUs per eBay member, sold on a first come, first served basis.

.

This sale is not associated with any HP-sponsored employee purchase program and there are no additional discounts for HP employees off the HP eBay store price.

.

All sales are final. There are no returns unless product arrives defective.

.

The refurbished TouchPad product comes with a 90-day limited warranty.

Going live:
6:00 p.m. (Central Time), Sunday, December 11th.

It's kind of fun being one of the sellers, now! Should turn a nice little profit on this venture. Smilie

I got my order confirmation at 7:20pm EST, but I've yet to receive a shipping confirmation. I'm guessing within the next half hour?
Same here. I got order confirmation at 7:36pm EST but no shipping confirmation yet. FYI got the 32 Gb from local Ebay and not CA or UK, after countless refresh at both the confirm order page as well as paypal payment page.

I had 2x 16GB touchpads in my cart before the sale went live, and right as it did the prices changed and I clicked complete order, then after an eternity the page loaded and kept telling me I needed a stupid phone number associated with my address before it could ship, but by then the server was hosed and I had to keep trying for 20 minutes till I could add a phone number and by then it removed the touchpads from my cart :-(

I was able to order 2x 32gb touchpads through ebay.ca but that was at 30 minutes after it started.... they accepted my paypal payment but who knows if that means I got one or if they'll refund it tomorrow.

Got screwed over because they wanted a stupid phone number....

Like I said, you can't order through Android Market without a preexisting Android device--Gmail or no Gmail.
It's possible but a lot of work. Involves the Android emulator, a custom image and a bit of work Wink

I finally got one earlier tonight (32GB) so thumbs up (assuming it is delivered as expected). Will I actually have any use for it or will it become the next Nintendo Wii that has been collecting dust for years after my epic quest to get it? I'm not sure and frankly I don't care now that I've got one. I won't even use it. I will put it on my kitchen table and hold a ritualistic ceremony to honor it. I will force my wife and kids to walk around said table and praise the all mighty Touchpad. I will caress it and night and if anyone ever wants to take it they will have pry it from my cold dead hands. Now, my life is complete.
Bwahahahahahaaa... REPPED.

It's not a crime to complain about shipping prices, especially when you come with the expectation of getting a out-of-store price 100/150$ tablet. Tax is understandable, but $20 for shipping? It should be more like $10. And if they were really cool, it'd be free.

Of course, this deal is still hot, and of course shipping should not deter anyone from enjoying the tablet.
Why did you expect $100 and $150? Because the previous sale of touchpads? HP never advertised this sale to the public...it was leaked by an employee. If you want to feel bad for anyone, feel bad for the poor HP employee who really wanted one of these but didn't get one because the Slickdealers gobbled them up. I'm sure they would gladly pay the extra $19 shipping if you hadn't bought theirs.

Yes, I understand $19 for shipping on a $99 tablet is a huge ripoff. Yes, I know it probably costs around $8 or 9. Did you guys not see it right there underneath the price? Did it say anywhere that shipping should be free?

Sometimes I just can't believe people on SD. Yes, we are SDers trying anything to get the best price but this is like trampling people at Walmart to get $20 off a blender.

Not that anyone cares, but it took me about 50 minutes of pulling out my hair until I finally got one today. The Ebay.CA worked better for a bit seemingly but it finally went through on the US site. I wanted a 16gb but got stuck with a 32gb.

It's sad that my 150$ tablet ballooned to 185~$ after tax and shipping... Now I'm thinking about how I could of bought a netbook or ultraportable which can do REAL work that I REALLY need and how this tablet is just a goddamn toy.

Mixed feelings...

I'm absolutely NOT one of the people leaving negatives reviews for it though.
It's not for real work. It's for access to email, internet and apps in locations where a laptop isn't practical. Think meetings, the gym, coffee shops, restaurants, bed.

I kind of thought the same thing when I payed for a bundle a few months ago. But keep in mind this was released only 4~5 months ago with over $300 worth of the latest hardware alone. With or without the likely Ice Cream Sandwich port, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what an awesome device this is.

Especially if its your first tablet.

No one made you order it. You were aware of the cost of shipping, but yet you went ahead and bought it.

All the whiney fgts complaining about the $20 shipping is pathetic.
