I grabbed one of these a few weeks ago when newegg had them refurbed at the same price. Been working great so far.

What is the advantage of having simultaneous dual-band? Is it much better than e2000? I have an e2000 now and it is running pretty good.

hmm..thinking of using my $20 google offer credit on this.

what i care about most is reliability..that is not having to reset the router every so often.

if i put tomato on there.. this should be a very reliable router right?

I'm no expert, but from what I understand the dual band allows you to use the 5GHz and the 2.4GHz signals simultaneously from the same router. I believe this should allow you to run your wireless N devices on the less crowded 5GHz band while allowing your wireless G/B devices to run on the 2.4GHz band.

I have an E2000 also. I have it configured to run on 5GHz N-Only and an old WRT54GS for my other non-N wireless devices.

I'm thinking about upgrading to the E3000 so that I can do all of that from one router, and leave the E2000 and the WRT54GS as spares.

I cant speak for the E3000 because I don't have one, but reading through some of the other E2000 threads it seems like people are getting pretty good reliability from the third party firmwares. I'm hoping the same is true for the E3000.

I have had great reliability from the dd-wrt firmware on my E2000. I had up time of over 200+ days before I shut mine down to attach it to a UPS. Apparently that was 114 days ago. See attached.

I have a Buffalo wzr-hp-g300nh that I seem to have stability problems with. Does anyone know how this compares?

I also wouldn't mind having a router that supports the 5ghz band.

And how's the range on this router?
