If you're looking for a DVD burner this is the best price I've ever seen on this particular model. You can even crossflash it to a -624 model if you're interested and unlock all the features of that model (~$30+ upgrade)... and yes, it's better than the -124 model because it includes LightScribe support - though whether you ever use that is up to you.

Best of all (for some), it's fully compatible with the firmware that will allow you to burn XBOX 360 backups.

Only $18.99 with free shipping - they sold out within a day the last time they were at this price!

The only difference between the drives are features:

Liteon iHAS124B = baseline model
Liteon iHAS224B = 124 + LightScribe
Liteon iHAS324B = 124 + SmartErase
Liteon iHAS424B = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 224 + SmartErase)
Liteon iHAS524B = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase
Liteon iHAS624B = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)

You're 100% sure this has the right chip to flash for the xbox?

"club.myce.com
Now the A series drives are no longer produced so your chances of getting an A series drives from a retailer such as Newegg is slim. Looking at reviews on Newegg for the DRW-24B1ST, there is one dated back to March 2011 reporting a B series drive."

"Buying a re-badged drive should also guarantees you a Mediatek chipset based drive (A or B series). Whereas buying a Lite-On drive, you could also get a NEC chipset drive"

Wow I guess you are dumber then a n00b. This is for burning the XGD3 disc and you need the right chip on the drive to flash the custom firmware. Now go away wave.

lulz

I'm 100% aware of what the drive is for. You, clearly, aren't.

Your optical drive has absolutely nothing to do with flashing your console.

You just suck at reading comprehension.

"Your 100% sure this has the right chip to flash for the xbox?"

is different than

"Your 100% sure this has the right chip to flash the xbox?"

100% sure this has the B chipset? Nope, but this is Newegg. I haven't heard of them having any of the A chipset drives in stock since before the Burner MAX fw even came out. If you aren't comfortable buying from Newegg feel free to take your chances with another vendor, though!

Which in turn are both different than "You're 100% sure this has the right chip to flash for burning XGD3 games?"

Shocked that slickdeals allows all this crazy Microsoft pirate talk... burning XBOX 360 backups is even illegal - read your terms and conditions from Microsoft.

I noticed that but wasn't going to correct.

Thanks OP! I've been trying different methods for my 360 backups (before going this route) and ended up with 3 coasters so far.
