Deal Details

Edit: Still available here [ebay.com] but Red is now sold out.

The Wolfgang Puck Pressure Cooker Bistro Elite 7 Quart [ebay.com] (former link that sold out here [ebay.com]) electric pressure cooker in multiple colors (black, green, red, white) is $40 shipped at eBay. There was a similar deal at eBay last month, but those were for refurbs. These are new (listed as overstocks from HSN, so they come in the HSN box) and come with a one year warranty.

Another note (since I found it difficult to find) that this will go to 12psi. Many recipes call for 15psi, but you'll see reports that anything over 8 or 9 psi is really all you need.

30 min HSN video with Wolfgang Puck [youtube.com]

They went for $90-$110 on HSN. They're out of stock, but the reviews are still there and are almost all positive. Note: Use the top link here: Google link [google.com]. HSN doesn't like being linked from SD.

Note: These things are pretty large. Look at the video to get a better grasp on the size.

If you're thinking of getting a pressure cooker to dramatically speed up your cooking or allow you to buy cheaper cuts of meat, this is certainly an inexpensive way to go - especially considering something like the 6 qt Presto [amazon.com] stainless pan is $38 at Amazon, and doesn't have a pressure release valve (meaning you've gotta let it cool down one way or another before you can open it).

Sorry, I didn't know you could edit the automagically attached images.

Fixed now.

Edit: And, it's back. I've deleted the Presto image twice now. I'll just leave it there rather than delete the link to the Amazon pan and hope that since all 4 colors are now there that people can figure it out on their own...

We have tried some of the more conventional looking pressure cookers and have had problems with the seals performing properly when trying to pressurize the pot to start cooking. Going to try this one. Thanks OP. r^t^

In for a red one!

Here's the cookbook mentioned in the video: Debra Murray PC Cookbook [amazon.com]

Pressure cooker cookbook that William Sonoma sells Tori Richie PC Cookbook [amazon.com] (note, that's pre-release from Amazon, but it's $2-$7 less than elsewhere (if you include shipping.)

I'm sure you can google with the best of them, but they mention several general ideas in the HSN video above (I know it's 30 minutes of HSN sales-speak, but it's a good place to start.) Off the top of my head, they mention things like corned beef, chicken and noodle dishes, potatoes for mashed/whipped potatoes, several rice dishes, roasts, and chicken soup (with a whole chicken).

Some general examples I've found:

• To cook black beans, you soak them overnight and then cook them for two hours. With a PC, you can soak and then cook them for about 10-15 minutes or cook them (without pre-soaking) for 25-30 minutes.
• Things like roasts or pulled pork will cook in an hour or so instead of 4-5 hours.
• Soups/stews cook significantly more quickly.

Cooking under pressure is different, so some of it is going to be trial and error.

We just had ham hocks cooked with pinto beans (and sweet onion) for a ham&beans dish that is very good.
