To be fair, BoA was coerced into buying Country Wide and lost billions because of it. If the government had bailed out Country Wide instead, the cost could have been paid by tax payers.
The BoA debit card has one feature that I use: a small network of ATMs across the world with no fee withdrawal.

The government cannot be blamed for BOA's stupid mistakes, of which they have lots! The management should have dug deeper into the financial reports on CountryWide and MorganStanley, before buying them. That is their fault!

If you want to actually share some information that is useful to the rest of us, why not share what credit union you went to, what money making offers got you to open the account and how we can profit from a move similar to yours as well.

Any incentives to go to a bank are short term - why else do you think they have to pay you to join? The only important incentive there is to joining a credit union is that you won't get screwed over with changing terms & mysterious fees and you'll be consistently satisfied. The primary goal of ALL large banks today is to recoup their losses from the bad decisions they made during the mortgage fiasco. Guess who that money comes from? Yup, customers!

I realize that customer deposits is not a primary discount window, but still - there HAS to be greater consciousness about this issue. OWS is a start, but it has to much, much deeper and farter. We're learning just how far they're having to go now with MF Global.
