SSD Speed
OK, finally got my SSD installed. Any ideas on this? Seems very slow to me for write speeds.

This is the motherboard... I think it's SATA II so I'm not expecting miracles, but still?

Boot seemed very quick but app launching seems about the same as before |

You have the SATA option set to AHCI in the BIOS? Running the latest firmware?

Not sure, I'd have to check. I went with default install ... let me dig around. thanks for the suggestion.

As prozac said, I think AHCI is probably the explanation for the crap write speeds. If you let Win7 do the settings when you installed on the SSD, it should be a simple switch in the bios.

If you do change it from native IDE to AHCI, and you don't have SATA drivers installed, Windows won't boot. Make sure to install all necessary drivers prior to changing BIOS settings.

Tried enabling AHCI and got a boot loop. Trying to find out what I'm missing now. How do I actually install the correct drivers?

Yeah I mean how do I find out where they are. I went to device manager and found the device (SSD) and right-click check for updates but it said I was current.
