Really? How do we know?

Make no mistake, I'm not a fan or Iran's current policies, sentiment, rhetoric, etc. That being said, I don't buy Iran is going after nukes seeing how high profile intelligence has been in the past 30-40 years (Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Guatemala, etc..). Pretty much every high profile intelligence case has been proven faulty and been a black eye for our foreign policy (while letting a group who was vested in our intervention make out like a bandit).

The series of explosions in Iran are very interesting.

I don't think the Ayatollah or Ahmadinejad are irrational people who would start a nuclear war. Would I prefer them not to have a nuclear weapon? Sure. But, they're not insane, they just posture in a way that sometimes seems that way in order to appear more threatening than they really are.

I have no idea why we constantly seek to escalate tensions with a non-threat like Iran.

China and Russia are loaded with nukes, have them aimed at us, and are ready to blow us up on a moment's notice.

I think people realize that China and Russia would never attack us with nukes because those nations recognize the repercussions. But, people buy into the political posturing of Ahmadinejad and think he's willing to turn his whole country into martyrs. Just so happens that this "threat" he poses tends to increase oil prices, which Iran benefits from.

What I meant was that we know for a fact that they are perusing a nuclear energy program.

But do you really doubt that if they had the means, they would go for the bomb?
I think its very naive to think they are only perusing a nuclear program for peaceful reasons.

You're buying into Ahmadinejad's propaganda. The more he looks crazy, the more uncertainty there is wrt oil and the middle east, the more oil costs, the more the elite in Iran benefit. He's playing a role (not very convincingly IMO).

They could have spent all this time and resources on building internal oil refining technology and capacity, instead of building expensive infrastructure to build nukes and payload delivery systems they wouldnt be classified as insane fanatical religious zealots Hell bent on fascilitating the return of the 12th Imam.
