Dell pre-installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9?

Dell pre-installed Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9, have they already been "activated" by Dell? Or are they just part of the "base image" and the user would have to activate them at the time or sometime after he or she starts to use them?

The reason I ask is that is it safe to sell the disk and activation key BEFORE deactivating the software on the Dell computer?

The computer came with disks that have the intallation key/serial number sealing the disk jacket. I think that the software is also already on the hard drive.

I have a buyer for the software, but I forgot to deactivate on the computer first and I don't have access to the computer until a few days from now, and by then I will be in a different city from the buyer...

Technically it is illegal to resell Oem software unless you are a reseller selling it with approved bundled hardware, or you are selling it with the original hardware. It's possible it may be licensed differently, check the eula.

That being said, if it works like most adobe software that activates, it will need to be deactivated and uninstalled on your computer before it will activate on another.

At work what we do is just call Adobe and say you are doing a re-install of the software after wiping the pc. We have a couple copies of Acrobat pro and every time i get a new model pc i have to call and tell them that and they do something with the key and it allows me to activate.

This is correct - OEM software is not transferable according to its license, that is why it is so cheap (free with your computer).
