But seriously, the action still holds up really well.
If you and your friends don't have a gaming laptop but still want to have nice action, its still one of the best games, especially for casual gamers.

I know that I easily get lost in today's fast-pace shooters - but this one is a classic that is so easy for everyone to get into. I tested it today with at least one friend who isn't a gamers and never played the game before. He was worried at first, but was dealing headshots and screaming "ultrakill!!" within two hours

In for the collection. I'm curious how many people are still playing UT.

I played on steam a few years back and have a couple concerns:

1. can Unreal custom maps be imported
2. recently user accounts have been compromised, is that still an ongoing problem or are measures in place to "help" prevent future compromise?

1. Yes. Custom maps can still be used

I'm not really sure about importing maps - back in the days custom maps had to be copied into the game folders.

From a quick look into the forums [steampowered.com]it seems that these options still exist as far as extracting simple zip files. Each version will have its own file structure, but it seems that it is possible.

As far as game mods go, YMMV, but at least in regards for UT2004 there seems to be some documentation.

2. Regarding the account hack - I can't say that I followed up on the matter since it broke out. I changed my passwords and made sure no off charged appeared on my credit, but I did not go further into it.

Do people still play online?

thousands still play UT online. As far as steam goes ,no problem here. you can also transfer your account to different computers. like play at work then go home and play. It's autoupdate through steam too.

I actually don't know, I just played 30 mins against bots to check out UT2004, and I had so much fun I forgot I could shoot real players as well!

No joke, i am getting this, but if any of you get this and wanna play, please gather here so i can set something up... UT by far is my favorite of all team-based games. Let me know!
