These are 2nd-hand gift cards? Like that the person could write down the number and use without having the physical card present? what could go wrong...

I'd say buyer beware, but kudos for the find if it's fully legit (I just would be wary). The non-round, large values make me suspicious.

I'd say you DON'T READ, those are merchandise credits, which are as good as gift cards. Obviously, at Christmas time, lots of people return merchandise, that with tax is not a nice round figure, thus amounts like $160.55.

I've actually used a service like this before and I have never had a problem. Most of the purchases I have done are through cardpool so I cant attest to this seller.

I've bought both HD and Lowe's from them before and had no problems at all.

Good to know. I've read terrible reviews of Plastic Jungle on reseller ratings, so was feeling cautious towards these guys.

I've probably ordered 10 times from them, and I always get my cards in 2 days (they're in MD and I'm in VA). Been very pleased with it.

I've been purchasing Home Depot store credits from Craigslist for the past two weeks for 80% of value. I meet the seller at a Home Depot store and have merchandise ready to buy immediately. I then return the merchandise later for a fresh store credit.

The disadvantage here is you need to have cash and can't use a credit card. You also spend a little bit on gas to drive over to Home Depot. It is worth it for me to save $135 on my new lawn mower in the spring.

Be careful buying cards off craigslist there is a scam where people buy them with stolen credit card numbers and after a day or two your gift card is no longer valid because it was bought with the stolen number.

Your idea of buying items and returning them is good and I have heard of using the gift card you bought to buy 2 or 3 smaller value cards. This also breaks the link.

These are store credits I bought so I am not sure if they are any safer.

Store credits cannot be used to buy gift cards at Home depot. First thing I tried. I have been buying faucets as they are high value, small, and easy to return.

I've had this happen to me personally. Fortunately I was able to get my $$ back, but it has scared me off from buying local via CL.

For an earlier poster, i personally like the odd amounts. it normally means a store credit, which is less likely to be a stolen cc. however, could mean stolen/returned goods also..

Buyers be careful. I purchased 2 $300 gift cards from cl. Went to hd same day they were $0. I don't want any attachments to a theft. I feel weird returning items I purchased without a reciept.

I can't fathom why anyone would purchase a used merchandise credit check or gift card for Lowes for a measely 10% discount, when they regularly offer 10% off codes/discounts (up to $5k purchase...$500 max discount). Confused

1 - You can use gift cards whenever you want.
2 - You can stack gift cards with the periodic 10% off codes, giving you 19% off total.
