There was a transaction "REAPPLY FRM ABANDOND PRPTY" on my Citicard, which DECREASED $742 from my balance.

I can't identify this transaction, plz cast light on it.

just report it and/or do a chargeback? - let the bank figure out who it is and deal with them, save yourself the hassle

that is why there are laws in the US regarding credit cards. File a chargeback asap. choose unauthorized transaction as the reason.

looks like your credit card number was stolen:

You'll get crazy newbies who call 3x a day for 2 weeks straight, and post argumentative paranoia demanding the rebate is guaranteed, in writing, by certified mail, on their doorsteps, by tomorrow evening. Then all the other newbie sheep freak out, and THEY call 3x a day, for 2 weeks straight, and the paranoia explodes. And suddenly everyone's carting their paper back to the retailer demanding a refund.

did you order something and not pick it up?

I would take the translation as reapplication from abandoned property, e.g. you abandoned something you bought and they are refunding the money from that.

just call credit card company and report unauthorized transaction and request a new card

so basically you were paid $700? - then just see what happens, pretend like it isn't there for a few months, and if it's still there after a few months, lucky you - I would still switch cards though

I saw this same transaction on my Citi Dividend card statement today (different amount). The reason this occurred is that I requested a check for my accrued cash back "dividends." The check got lost in the mail. Citi sent some snail mail and phone calls to me to prompt me to request a new check. I was too lazy to do this, so eventually they credited the amount of my requested check directly to my statement. So the abandoned dividend check must be the abandoned property that they are referring to.
