iPad or iPod With your FSA money

Yep, I bought the iPad and blood pressure set. Shipping was a little slow but I got it about a week and half after I ordered. The monitor is really cool how it can track the history and you can both use it on your new iPad (which I love by the way, no real shocker) and on the web.

I also had no trouble with my FSA. All I had to do was submit the paperwork and it was approved no problem.

Wow there are so many inaccuracies in this thread, it's ridiculous.

1) FSA Dollars are still YOUR dollars to spend, just on a pretax basis. If you don't spend them, then you forfeit them to your employer.

2) If the iPad 2 is bundled correctly with the blood pressure monitoring device, then it IS INDEED eligible for FSA reimbursement. Your FSA can't determine what is medically neccessary and what isn't, just what it eligible. And if it is eligible, they have to reimburse you.

Edit: In this case the iPad/iPod is necessary to get results from the blood pressure monitoring device, so it is neccessary to the operation of the device, so the bundling seems to be done correctly. Again, the FSA plan CANNOT tell you what is a reasonable price or give you a price range to stay in because it is YOUR money. So if you want to spend $729 on a blood pressure device, that's your business.

3) For all those "OMG the IRS will eat your first born posts", all you have to say is that you purchased the package because the iPad is NEEDED to use the blood pressure monitoring stuff. Doesn't mean you can't use it for other stuff as well. Also, I believe that this burden of eligibility falls on the FSA plan administrators not the individual.
