ooma or other voip systems?

Need to help a buddy cut back on bills & the AT&T needs to be one of the first to go. He will have to keep them as his IP unfortunately. He has broadband at $19.99/month. I was looking at the ooma basic set up as a recommend. I do not have voip myself & know next to nothing about it, just have my cell phone. Any thoughts, advice, etc. about ooma or any other voip's you've experienced needed. Thanks in advance SD'ers.

I think ooma is the best out there right now. The only downside is if you are porting the phone number it takes a very long time. i would suggest getting a new phone number. Also when it comes to the setup hook it up from the modem to ooma and then the router. Also activate Qos (Quality of Service) so that ooma will take priority. My father has ooma and RR lite from TWC which is 1 mb up and down and it works great.

I got it on sale for under $35. Rock solid. Paired with a corldess phone (DECT 6.0) and it is my "landline" now.
