Deal Details

I missed out on the Williams-Sonoma deal last week, but came across the Vitamix CIA Blender from Macy's for $360 (after automatic 40% off code) with free shipping plus tax.

Does anyone know how this model compares to the Vitamix 200?

doing some quick research, it appears this is identical to the 5200, just with a special name.

also, here is a comparison between the Pro 500 and 5200:

The Pro 500 is also on sale at Macy's, $699 - 40% off

I've been waiting for a decent deal on a Vitamix, so I pulled the trigger on this one. The 5200 is more than enough for me. Thanks OP!

Yea, it's a total scam... that is why most Jamba Juice and other juice/frosty/smoothie places including a lot of dunkin' donut have one to prepare their blends/shakes/etc.

I love my Vitamix. I purchased the 5200 from Costco (not sure how much it was), and use it every day. I use it to mostly to make smoothies, health drinks and marinades, but have tried one of the soups in the recipe booklet that was included. The motor is strong and cuts up everything--peels included. It doesn't overheat because of the built-in cooling system. And cleanup is a breeze -- just fill it halfway with water and add a drop of soap, blend for 30 seconds, and you're done! Everyone in my family owns one. I LOVE it.

I bought a 5200 from Costco a month ago for ~389.. I absolutely love it so far, and bought it after jealousy towards my two brother in laws who both have them.

I frequently make chicken tortilla soup, roaster red pepper and crabmeat soup, strawberry lime sorbet, and just random fruit smoothies from whatever we have about to go bad in the kitchen..

This may be a better deal than I got..Not sure how this model compares to the 5200. Ive heard there are different grades/sizes of the pitcher itself..

Blendtec from Costco
Blendtec does indeed make nice blender, and that's the brand I recently saw at a smoothie shop. BUT, a new commercial Blendtec sells for $900 at Amazon. The one at Costco is not a commercial unit. It's probably a great blender, but you can't compare it to a commercial unit. There have been a lot of deals on refurbished Blendtecs, but the reviews are mixed on the condition.

I was always skeptical of the Vitamix blenders until we spent Christmas at a relative's house and saw their Vitmamix in action all week. They are extremely well built and perform incredibly well.
