It's a dual GPU card running in SLI. The 7970 is the fastest single card. The benchmarks I've seen the 590 still wins but the 7970 blows away the single card 580. Don't forget tha REPS!

Kepler is coming in a few months tops... It only makes sense to buy card like this when they come out. In a few months you can get a single GPU card that will perform just as fast, if not faster, but also will consume less power and produce less heat. By extenstion it will be more quiet.

So, wait a few months and get gtx 680 for less $, (or gtx 690 if you want dual GPU for about the same price, but this one will come out later).
