I picked it up the last time it was $250. I'm not exactly sold on it. It's ok but peoples faces seem washed out and I can't seem to make it not be that way.

In for a warehouse deal one for 207$. Worse case, theres free shipping back for refund! Smilie

About the same price as the Haier few months ago for 200$, but a more well known brand. Hopefully it'll be better than the ChinaTV

A couple days before Christmas, I got Dynex 32" LCD (DX-32L220A12) from Best Buy for $229. I went there after the 32" Dynex LCD-LED for $199 but that one was out of stock at all the Best Buys within reasonable driving distance, so I grabbed the LCD Dynex for $229 + tax - 5% cash back on my Citibank Platinum Dividend Select Mastercard.

The Dynex's built-in clear QAM was broken (choppy sound, sometimes wouldn't tune to a couple of the HD channels on the WOW cable service at my home), so I returned it and exchanged it for this Sharp 32" and paid ~$42 more (I got a $25 gift card when I got the Dynex because I also got Just Dance 3 for the Wii with it for $39.99- they deducted the proportional value of the gift card after I'd used the gift card).

The Sharp's picture quality is fair-to-middling, even after quite a bit of tweaking with the brightness, contrast, etc. It's definitely no match to the picture quality of the 37" LG 37LK450 in my living room. The Sharp's sound is not as good as that of the Dynex LCD and the Sharp lacks the Right/Left audio output, dedicated composite input and optical audio out that the Dynex had.

I'm sorta kinda thinking about taking the Sharp back to Best Buy (if they'll do that) and get the Dynex again and just live with the crappy QAM tuner (I'll eventually get a box from WOW).

Is saving a little bit of money on a TV worth all this time and effort? Just buy a good brand..

Would this work well as a computer monitor?

I hooked up 4 year old Dell Vostro 1500 laptop running Windows XP SP3 to the VGA port... the desktop and Firefox window looked nice and crisp at 1366 X 768 (720p). The text looked sharp. I had to retweak the brightness, contrast, etc. to get Youtube and Crackle video to look decent. Maybe I can use the nVidia Control Panel on my laptop to do some calibration so I don't have to keep changing the settings on the TV when I switch back to the TV tuner.

No, its only 720P (1280x720 resolution) so not really acceptable. The better bet would be the TCL 1080P model from amazon that was on sale a few weeks back for $260 albeit in a 40" model. Right now its selling for $320
