I'd replace the spark plug and fuel filter. This won't touch what your stihl can get done. If you're just trimming a bit of grass though it may be fine.

Have 3 different Stihl lawn implements for 5 years, never had a problem starting or any other problems with them.

1) make sure you have fresh gas and oil mixture in the machine. (not left over from 3 years ago)
2) Prime according to directions.
3) set choke
4) MAKE SURE KILL SWITCH IS IN THE ON POSITION
5) lock trigger in the start position
6) 1, maybe 2 pulls and starts EVERY TIME!!!
7) KEEP A COUPLE SPARE PLUGS AROUND IN CASE YOU FOUL THE ONE IN THE ENGINE!!!!
