Lol, I forgot that Verizon/Sprint/AT&T will automatically add a data plan if you are using a smartphone.
It's good to be on T-mobile where this nonsense doesn't happen. If you buy a smartphone off-contract (like this device here), you should not be subjected to a data plan. Of course, if you buy a new device/upgrade through T-mobile, you will get the data plan added but that's a completely different story.
reading the reviews on amazon says this thing doesn't have wifi, otherwise great phone
Ok, we have a phone that requires a data plan, which HAS bandwidth caps, and also does not have wifi, meaning that it has a MUCH higher chance of breaking through the caps -- and this makes for a great phone? Sort of like a car with missing wheel, with the exception of the missing wheel it is a great car...
i thoguht all blackberry's were GSM phones as well as CDMA, making them global phones.
I think this might be true for newer Blackberries, but pre Blackberry 9530 and 9630, I think the only CDMA Blackberries that had a sim slot are the 8830 or whatever model that is that specifically says on it that it is a world phone. Otherwise, the 8230 and 8330 Blackberries and anything prior don't have a sim slot.
