Deal Details

This is more of an FYI since it has been around, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I needed a large car to move some furniture this weekend and ran across Costco's discount program through the major car rental companies (Avis, Enterprise, Budget, etc). I have literally looked for hours (probably wasted too much time to save a few bucks at this point) and Costco was the best deal by far.

I got a full sized SUV for $88 from Budget whereas the site is $200 even after discount codes. I think it depends on what type of car you want.

Costco also has other programs for car buying and travel.

Thanks for the heads up (reminder? ... sometimes hard to keep track of all the benefits with everything we sign up for).

Yeah, a week of mid-size SUV rental was $295 after tax with Costco a few weeks ago. The best I could find elsewhere was $340 with discount codes.

The car buying program; I had far less luck with that. Seemed to be a front for local car dealerships, and no deals were found. Much better luck/prices just emailing dealerships in the area to see who comes out with the best price.

^ Linky [costcotravel.com]

I booked a full size SUV at Orlando Airport (Alamo) for 4 days for $70 (all taxes included) in mid December. You do need an active Costco membership card tho.

Do you go to costco and get a code or something, or go to different rental agencies and ask if they participate in the program?

I used Costco for car rentals the last two times I traveled. As the OP stated, you can spend a lot of hours looking for discounts, but you'll be hard pressed to find any better.

flyer talk has a list of discount codes. costco is a very good discount. Also these discount allows for coupons to be stacked ontop of the discount. through alamo and their insiders club. booked five days, in a full size, from LAS, for $110 after taxes.

I have a costco membership, but I'm going to be honest with you guys.
I'm a 21 year old college student living in Los Angeles.
I just want a nice looking car to show off/mess around with on a weekend that me and my friends go to places for fun and then at night partying most likely around Hollywood.
Any recommendations.
What are the chances of me being able to rent the newly designed Dodge Charger for a few days at a good price? Thanks.

I wouldnt bother if you want to sign for it they will charge you a insane amount for being under 25 (some even wont let you) as they did with me a few years ago while in Florida.
