I'll admit, I fell for it and voted for him..
but obama is an exceptionally smooth speaker...

RP isn't the typical speaker..he's genuine..consistent...

No. He sounds very much like some of the "constitutionalists" that I've known. They are right about many things but are just far enough out in the weeds on other issues to be very scary. Their hearts are truly in the right place, but there's a part of reality that they are not connected with, IMHO.

Why do all of our first-world peers have similar systems? (Or perhaps that question goes the other way around.) Should we really give those things up to embrace another philosophy? That sort of thing.

Benefits to whom? Banks that create money out of nothing benefit greatly and want nothing more than to prolong the current system even as it is failing around them. Debt based monetary systems cannot last forever. Governments also love this system as they are able to wage war and "buy" votes without taxing the people to pay for war and handouts. Corporations admire it because they can very easily buy influence and regulation that favors them instead of the small business.

People? Average people? Well they think that those in control, the banking cartel and government and The Fed are "managing" the economy and the money supply to benefit society and the little guy, when that is just about as far from the truth as one can get. They think that big brother knows best. They think that credit "money" is good because it is more efficient and easier to transact in. They don't want to have to carry around paper bills or small copper coins, of course they don't want to have to carry large amounts of silver or small amounts of gold. There certainly are benefits to fiat or credit currencies as long as you don't mind what you hold in those currencies losing value consistently. Money should be a store of wealth, the dollar, or FRN, does not store wealth, it erodes it. The FRN is a currency, a medium of exchange at best, whose only backing is force and confidence.

What government doesn't want the ability to create money for use in waging war or appeasing the masses without having to take it from the rest of the masses? Libya was working on a gold standard. Shocking that they were taken out and a central bank setup before Gaddafi was even out of power, never mind dead.

Give up a controlled currency that benefits a powerful few at the detriment of the rest of the country, really rest of the world in our case because of reserve currency status? That would be awful. Letting the people retain the fruits of their labor in actual money that government cannot devalue at the pressing of CTRL+P.

Lets open up the FRN to competition. Let your dog out to play in the real world, lets see how it does. I guarantee virtually everyone will still pay their taxes with those worthless FRNs, but most transactions would quickly switch to something of actual intrinsic value.

I bought my first car in 2002, brand new for $13,500. According to the Fed themselves, if I just covered it with a tarp and left it in the garage for 10 years, it would be worth $17,442 right now. This monetary appreciation is fantastic! Thanks Fed!!!! I mean, I think I have that right....
