will squaretrade protect a refurb tv?

can't decide whether to pull the trigger... warranty is pretty expensive, but on a refurbished element I'd be pretty concerned without one

FWIW, I bought an Element LCD about five years ago, and I've had absolutely no problems with it.

It was new. You are very right about the reason they are refurbished, and after reading several reviews, I am going to pass on this. Seems like I was rather lucky in my experience.

Don't be tempted.

Considering Amazon recently had a brand new 40" TCL, using Samsung S-PVA panels, for $269 shipped (not black friday either), I'd recommend that everyone take a pass.

Walmart recently had the same 40" TCL for a competitive price as well, around $320 FS + tax, brand new with 90day returns.

Newegg is not the best place to buy TV's anyway, their customer service + return policy on them isn't the greatest, even Best Buy and Walmart have them beat, and with Amazon it goes without saying.
