Ed's Roadhouse is excellent jerky. The price isn't cheap but it is made to order and he used to offer a military discount. I don't see it on the site anymore so maybe email and find out what he can do for you. The wait time is going to be there since they make it fresh and appear to be a small operation but the flavor is outstanding. http://www.edsroadhousejerky.com/

The Dublin Store has really good jerky at better prices. I have no idea if they give a Military discount but I'd imagine that they will do something for you if you contact them as well. Value wise I like this jerky better. http://www.dublinstore.com/mm5/me...Code=jerky

I'd stay away from the "Damn Good Jerky" as the quality is extremely inconsistent. It gets posted here often on sale but if you have to throw something away because it sucks so bad then the value was pretty poor no matter how much it gets discounted.

Alternatively, I have been making my own jerky for the last several months and it is by far the best value. If I were sending some to friends and wanted quality/value at it's highest I would consider looking into this. It is a lot of fiun and very rewarding. There are lots of ways to do it and mainly it requires some time and patience. Good luck!

Anyway, out of several online places I have tried including DGJ, and Big John's which both get posted on SD often, I find the two I linked to to be much better. No comparison really. Since you asked about high quality.

when i was in afghanistan i bought 3 lbs, was the best 60 i ever spent.
since theres... been some bad events recently with them., i sent them 5 lbs of it, they would do the same for me. $100 of my money to make some of my best friends happy is well worth it. also sent them 2 jars to keep the jerky fresh in.

and its some damn good jerky. theres a reason its so high, yeah, i wanted a bulk order. but i broke down and sent them what i knew.

Yeah, I had that one bookmarked to try out but then I started making my own instead. Looks good though. It was on my list of ones to try.

Quality jerky isn't cheap. After water weight has been deducted, most jerky is at a 23-35% yeild. So whatever the beef originally cost per pound, it actually tripled or quadrupled. Then you have spices and seasonings. Quality matters here as well. It takes a significant amount of time to properly trim, season, cure, and dry a good piece of jerky. I'll take quality over quantity when it comes to something I am eating for pleasure.
