Canon won't honor the rebate - is this a scam?

I sent in the rebate form along with invoice and UPC label few week back. I received a letter from Canon saying that the UPC label is missing. I called Canon telling them that I have a copy of the label, but they requested for the original UPC label, otherwise they will reject the rebate. How on earth can I find the original UPC label? I talked to the rep. at Amazon where I bought, but no help. I did a lot of rebates in the past without any problem. Now come to the $400 rebate, suddenly they didn't received the UPC label? Is there any way that I can do to get the rebate? Is there anyone out there has the same issue?

There are lots of people with similar Canon printer rebate problem. You can search the web to see some complaints.
What you can do is file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and with the FTC. The BBB will directly help with the consumer disputes but the FTC won't do so directly but it compiles all info for possible action. Search the web for "consumer protection".
Also file as many complaints about this atrocious Canon practice on as many websites that accept consumer fraud complaints as possible. If you know the names of the individuals at Canon or its rebate center you dealed with and they refused to help you, put their names in the postings to make them accountable.

I am 4 for 4 on the $400 - $500 Canon DSLR camera / printer bundle rebates, 1 for 1 on a $250 printer rebate and at least 6 for 6 on various other rebates valued from $50 - $135 on Canon printers, camera/printer bundles, and fax machines processed by acbpromotions. One of the $400 rebates was initially invalid but was changed to valid without my intervention but others did intervene on their submissions of the same rebate and it was determined there was a promotion wide "glitch" that caused the invalidation. I did have to call in on one of the low value rebates when it was invalidated for some bogus reason and the rebate was validated during the phone call.

I agree I get it validated usually with 1 call.

When they know there is someone not willing to give up the rebate, they'll back down.

Re the promotion "glitch" mentioned in a previous post, I suspect the "glitch" appears when there is enough outrage and they couldn't take it anymore and had to give in to the vocal consumers and blamed their idiocy as a glitch.

If I recall correctly it had something to do with the usual make a hole requirement for the printer's upc code. One Amazon version of the bundle rebate did NOT include the make a hole requirement but the rebate processor enforced the non-included term anyway. Many invalidations ensued which resulted in many phone calls which resulted in the correction being made.
