Whether or not you know about the amazon.com free 30 day trial for audible.com (+2 book downloads) I wanted to share this book specifically. It is WELL WORTH the sign up if you are not an audible.com member already. I just got done cancelling my audible.com subscription after downloading my free books (this being one of them) and it was painless. This book was fantastic and is a perfect download in the "audio" format. Wil Wheaton does a great job (surprised the crap out of me).

So here's the deal:

Go here and click start your free trial (you can use your amazon account)
http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Playe...ud_title_0

If you have a smartphone get yourself the audible.com app (free) and you can now download the book directly to your phone.

Here are the reviews for the audio book itself from Audible.com
http://www.audible.com/pd/ref=sr_...025&sr=1-1

I would tell you about the book but you can see for yourself. Super Nerds REJOICE! I heard about this book from a friend and decided to try the audio book instead of buying it (it was free). I had no idea it was such a hot topic around the world. My favorite "read" this year... period. (not for everyone I must admit)

Here is what they boast about on readyplayerone.com:

-#1 on Amazon’s list of the Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Books of 2011

-#1 on Barnes & Noble’s list of the Best Science Fiction Novels of 2011

-#1 on Hudson Booksellers list of the Best Fiction of 2011

-#2 Science Fiction Novel of the Year on Goodreads

-#6 on io9’s list of the Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Books of 2011

-#9 on Entertainment Weekly’s Best Novels of 2011

-#10 on Apple’s Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Books of the Year

-#18 on Wired’s Best of 2011 list

-Library Journal selected RPO as one of their Librarian’s Best Books of 2011

-The Onion A.V. Club selected RPO as one of “The Best Books We Read in 2011”

-Ready Player One is Audible’s Highest Rated Audio Book of the Year

-Author Ernest Cline ranked #29 on USA Today’s Top 100 People of 2011 List

CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION BY CALLING - 1-888-283-5051 (you have 30 days, took 5 minutes)

Hope it is ok to post something like this? This is my first share. I didn't find anything about this, if it is a re post I apologize.

Thanks!

You can get any of the books under the free trial, not just this one.

I am pointing out that this is the best audio book of the year (to most people) making it a "slick deal" to me. I was floored by it. It was a priceless read I got for FREE! Sorry if i wasted your time.

And everyone who discovers the free audio book deal feels the need to post about it here. This is neither slick nor a deal. I understand your excitement, OP, but SlickDeals isn't really here to trade taste in audio books (ok, maybe in the off-topic forum), it's to save other readers money.

And it wasn't a "priceless read," it was a listen. ("Priceless" is in the ear of the beholder. I read, with my eyes, the first chapter a while back, found it gimmicky, and moved on.)

If you only read the first chapter, you really missed out.

One of the best books I've read in the past year. Everyone I've recommended it to has loved it.

Make sure you check out your local library first.
A lot of library now offers ebooks and audiobooks.
You can get them free from your local library depending on where you live. I saved $$ not buying audiobooks from Audible.com (although I respect what they offer).
I just did a quick search of my local library holdings (took only 5 seconds) and it looks like my library offers both Kindle ebook and the audiobook.
