Links to example finances for auto industry

I am looking for financials for a new/used car dealership. Industry-wide stats would be a plus. Basically I am looking for average profitability of the various departments - new/used cars, service, parts, etc.

Any ideas?

There's a company [urbanscience.com] that DOES have exactly what you're looking for - they collect this data for practically all dealers globally, but it's not typically something available to the public - it's more for the manufacturers & I have to imagine access to their info is pretty expensive. You can also search for NAICS 441110 and SIC 5511

At the time (reasonably recent) the average monthly payment was about $420/month. According to a used car salesperson I know, used cars are more profitable, and it's because people can't go down to the next dealer and buy the exact same car. They do make most of their money in the service department. I hope that helps.
