I got an email at work today telling my about the Microsoft Home Use Program where I could purchase Microsoft Office Professional 2010 for $9.95 + Tax. My employer has a bulk licensing agreement with Microsoft as most med-large companies will have so you may be able to score this price as well.

Link: http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus...ture=en-US

You will need to provide a valid work email address and your companies program code. If you don't have a program code look for "Don't know your program code, click here." and you can enter your work email address and it will attempt to send you one.

Edit: as rturner1 found this may work with your universities email address as well

PC/MAC versions available for download.

You can also purchase Project or Visio for $9.95 each.

This is now working with facebook email addresses. See wiki.

Still works with a youremail@myspace.com email address
code is 2288AD508F

FYI - This is a 32-bit version of office. Not the 64-bit one.

11:05PM 1/11 PST - Some people are reporting bad keys.
Those who claim bad keys, are you getting that message when you try to activate, if so, give it a few days then try again...sometimes the server is hammered and it doesnt activate correctly and will work just fine later on...also make sure any other versions of office you may have on your computer are completely uninstalled...sometimes uninstalling office and reinstalling itthe key will work...

DEAD WITH FB ACCOUNTS
The following problem(s) exist:
•We are unable to qualify you with the email domain and program code you have provided. You are likely no longer eligible for the program. If you feel you have reached this in error, please confirm with your benefits administrator that the program code and email domain being used are correct.

While this deal is in violation of the terms of service Microsoft does not make a habit of prosecuting end users UNLESS YOU TRY TO RESELL THE LICENSE ON EBAY ETC.

You either need to work for a participating company or university and have a valid email address with them. Some people are reporting using your facebook email address works.
youremail@facebook.com

To activate facebook email, go here if you haven't already.
www.facebook.com/about/messages
Go to messages and be sure to activate your facebook email prior to requesting the mail. Also check your facebook spam folder.
spam folder direct link http://www.facebook.com/messages/other/?query=is%3Aspam

Having a hard time getting the message to show up in Facebook? There should be no wait, it's INSTANT, read on!
If you can't get the e-mail at your Facebook address, check your privacy settings!

Go to Privacy Settings, then "How You Connect" and make sure that "Who can send you Facebook messages?" is set to "Everyone" otherwise it won't work!

FACEBOOK USERS - check your spam folder under messages, that's where it is being sent for many. Then click on message from Lorraine and then at the top click expand! Reps to mpetey26. Should work for multiple computers. I got this last year from @gmail accounts and have it on two laptops.

You can purchase the MAC version instead and have the option of purchasing Visio 2010 Premium for $9.95 more.

I've bought one license, how many computers can I install this on? Two.

To further elaborate on the above, you can install on one PC and one mobile device (i.e. laptop/netbook/tablet). Here's an excerpt from the license terms:
2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
a. One Copy per Device. You may install one copy of the software on one device. That device is the “licensed device.”
b. Licensed Device. You may only use one copy of the software on the licensed device at a time.
c. Portable Device. You may install another copy of the software on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.
d. Separation of Components. The components of the software are licensed as a single unit. You may not separate the components and install them on different devices.
e. Alternative Versions. The software may include more than one

You two realize this post is 3+ months old, right? The loophole that allowed this for Facebook/Myspace has been closed for some time now.

Never hurts to read the wiki post on the first page, or look at the last post in the thread which was from 2 months ago....
Never hurts to read the wiki, which says in huge red letters that it still works with myspace....

There was never a post about the loophole being closed, just that emails weren't getting through. I tested and emails weren't getting through from other email addresses, not just the microsoft one.

But thanks for the lesson in how to use a forum. I will take it with me to future prosperity.

lollllllll exactly. I already used this thread to get my copy of Office, but wanted to try the myspace way since according to the wiki it still worked. I then did some research and myspace is working on fixing the email issue. Some folks are able to get outside emails, a lot of others can't.

I had the link to purchase this in my myspace email. I never pulled the trigger. I figured I would use that purchase link tonight, and the HUP website said that the purchase link is no longer valid. So they either pulled it from me to plug the myspace hole, or these links expire (?) Oh well. Better luck next time lol
