Best airline miles credit card?
Hey all, the Mrs. and I are looking into switching our credit cards to ones that earn mileage... we have always used cash back cards but now that we have started to do a fair bit of traveling we are thinking we may get better use of our credit card usage by getting miles instead of money.I have no experience whatsoever with mileage cards, can anyone offer any advice? I heard that United has the best frequent flier program and probably should transfer miles to there, any opinions there? Tips on sign up bonuses are appreciated but looking for cards for everyday spending mainly, any slick strategies for maximizing miles are greatly appreciated! |

I know you're interested in maximizing your flight rewards for your everyday spending, but right now there are some nice sign up bonuses that you'll probably want to consider because they can earn you the same reward as 1+ years of everyday spending.
For example the United MileagePlus® Explorer Card will give you 25,000 miles after your first purchase. Also, the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express will give you 30,000 miles after you spend $500 on the card. In general, a lot of people like the Starwood Preferred Guest AmEx card for travel rewards. There are others worth considering like the Escape card from Discover and the Capital One Venture Rewards card. To see which of these rewards cards will pay you the most in travel rewards for the first year of your everyday spending, you might want to try out the rewards calculator at: http://www.creditcardt |

some credit cards like chase freedom or sapphire allows you to convert your rewards to mileage.
anyhow, there's a credit card thread in our finance forum that might be helpful to you as well. good luck! |

In the end though I highly suggest you and the wife sign up separately for each of your own card. May as well double the miles and heck may as well get one card for one airline and another for the other person. That way you get free bags on multiple airlines ![]() I personally love me the SPG Amex card, although I did just cancel it to avoid the annual fee this year. Their Cash and Points program is pretty ridiculous. Got a week in Thailand for 21,000 points and $300 (including all taxes and fees) at a 5-star resort on the water. Their card currently gives you 25,000 points for meeting the minimum spend so it's a no brainer if you ask me. Plus I finally had an AMEX to buy stuff at Costco!
