So my attachment photo is going to do the talking for me here, but the once-$498 tv, is now $100 cheaper. The resolution isn't fantastic (it says 1024x768, which in my book, doesn't seem like true 720p, but whatever.)

ITEM #: 507149
MODEL: DP50740

Price change was posted in their store on 01/10/12

SPECS:
1024 x 768 (720p, according to them)
2,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio

2 Component
1 PC (I assume this is RGB)
1 USB
1 A/V

To those who are complaining that this isn't "true 720p"... look at almost EVERY SINGLE 720p plasma ever sold... they ALL say 1024x768 native resolution. This is because the pixels are wider than they are tall, meaning that only 1024 of them are needed to fill the width of the television. Almost EVERY 720p plasma has been like this. Stop complaining when you don't know what you're talking about.

50" 720P? talk about a very crappy picture...no high end HDMI or digital box would help that picture out :/

Rate the VALUE for the PRICE, not the fact that you don't approve. *facepalm* xD

quality of product compared to the price

400 is a good price for a 720p 50"

This would make a great TV at a great price for a rec room.

Great price for product. Would have to spend another $150-200 (50% more) to upgrade to brand name & 1080p. Worth the risk in bringing it home, and returning it if picture's unacceptable.

Not a bad deal, but the resolution is low. This isn't your typical 720p.

Wouldn't even buy this for my backyard. With all the new stuff at CES, they are trying to dump all the junky junk pre Super Bowl for the SB sale. Hold out and you can get this for $250 or something better in the same range.

not bad. I've been looking for something for the bedroom. Just to watch tv on coax cable like 2 hours per week.
Have to check this out next time I am in store

You are obviously correct to rate for quality to price ratio, but a larger HDTV isn't just objectively horrible just because it is 720p (EDIT: I'm assuming standard 720p, not some random aspect ratio). This would make a great set for a specific need (e.g. basement living room for kids to hang out where you might not want to stick an expensive set with a picture the kids won't appreciate).

Thanks, OP.
