Hi - I got this e-mail from Amazon after trying to get some price adjustment for a order that just arrived 3 weeks.

"
A careful review of your account indicates that you've required promotional certificates on a majority of your orders for a variety of reasons.

Through the normal course of business, the occasional problem is inevitable. However, you seem to have had an unusually high rate of problems in your account history

When unusual account activity like this comes to our attention, we'll evaluate each account on a case-by-case basis to determine if additional action or closing the account is necessary. We’d prefer to work with you because we do value your business.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding."

--- I have several hundred gift card amount tied, if my account gets banned, will I lose those? I am fearful of that, I just hope they don't ban my account, I replied to them with my phone number.

I saw some old 2009 threads on this subject with people dealing with too many returns.

---------UPDATE 01/16/2012 ------------

Update: after I sent them a e-mail asking them to call me, this is what they replied:

"
We're concerned about the activity on your account and want to do all we can to and avoid the inconvenience you experience when you purchase from Amazon.com.

We contacted you so we could better understand the activity on your account and learn how to improve your shopping experience.

Your account remains open and available for your use.

We appreciate your understanding, and hope to see you again soon.
"

Well I spent $400 real fast, $200 is still left, I bought baby items including a car seat, which I didn't need at this time but bought it in panic mode.

Lesson learned for next time, avoid those damn price adjustment request and never put all gift cards under the account.

You can buy Target Gift Cards from Amazon....
You can't purchase any gift cards with an AGC. Unless there is something I am missing and somehow it only works with Target but when I searched all are unavailable.

I'll post this in the original post as well

I have done that for 6 years and have had no problems. I think its a given now, that people do it. But I do have Prime, if it makes any difference.
Thanks for responding really appreciate it I guess prime isn't a problem. I think its kind of unfair on Amazons end to cancel someones account without a warning first (course if there is a big abuse on them).

Guess Amazon is really feeling the pinch to even consider banning people? All I know is come Sept 15, 2012 Amazon's pricing will be about at least 7.25% more expensive for California consumers. Looks like Newegg, Fry's, Microcenter, and your typical B&M stores will be more of a prefer shopping destination than Amazon???

No. They're banning people that repeatedly hammer CS begging for freebies, and people who habitually abuse their generous return policies. Amazon has phenomenal customer service so long as you don't go way out of your way to take advantage of their generosity. It's just good business sense.

What about countless threads where people say they got banned for legitimate returns (i.e defective products, which were not their fault?) Are we to believe those threads?

I have heard stories like these before and since then, I have been even afraid to contact them for legitimate concerns.

Amazon is like an online bully!

Haha...I did end up contacting them for 2 problems last year and was expecting to get banned after obsessing over threads like these. Didn't happen though, thankfully.

One problem was not receiving my whey protein even though it said "delivered." Shipping company was ensenda o ontrack or something. Other was getting a used ps3 in place of a new one. I made that assumption because I thought the box looked opened and re sealed. I raised that concern via chat and the rep gave me one day Saturday...shipping, which I never asked for. I thought I was going to ne banned for that for sure..lol.

the thing is that amazon outside cust service is set up in such a way that it is easy to cajole/bully them into giving customers too many concessions (for genuine or totally unwarranted reasons) but then they also have this cis team sitting in US who keeps a watch on this sort of activity. Once you get caught up in their algorithm, they don't care to see what the issues were. They just see that you are not profitable enough (or are even a loss) so they cut you loose. That's it plain and simple.
It is exactly like Staples who will let you use all kind of coupons (they dont want to invest any resources in doing a better job there) and later come back and blacklist you.

Can you elaborate on the Staples coupon? How do people get blacklisted for coupons?

ahh, another victim of Amazon. Yes, they ban IP, so going through the stealth tips is what you'll need to do as Amazon is very unreasonable about hearing people out. They have too many followers to care about taking folks back they kick out.

What do you mean you "i never had a credit card/ bank account attached to my account nor do i have a credit card or bank account i use to only use amazon.com gift cards."?

How do you pay for your purchases then?
