I know it's been this price since they had the manfrotto bag back in december. That thing was a total bust, so I stayed away from this as well. Manfrotto makes very nice stuff, just scared that Costco is getting the leftovers.

This is probably better for a simple point and shoot or flip camera. So, the reason it is so cheap is because it's quite limited and the head does not separate from the tripod.
