Any thoughts on how this set compares to the Polk RM 95?

Looks like a great deal. I'd love to see a similar price on the 5.1 system reviewed here [cnet.com]... Although I guess you could just find a sub somewhere else

This is the cheapest it's been in a long time. DON'T LET THE SIZE FOOL YOU! I've had these for 2 years and they are the best bang for your buck speakers. I just upgraded the Energy center speaker to a Polk CS2 and I was disappointed that the gigantic POLK CS2 with it's rave reviews was barely better.

These have been $150 and lower in the past, but they're a good buy even at $180.
Keep your expectations in check and you can't go wrong with these. Just make sure that you have a receiver with a subwoofer frequency cutoff that goes relatively high, say 120/140Hz, and a subwoofer that can reach that high as well... otherwise you'll end up with a big hole in your frequency response. |

I've had these, the Polk R50's, R30's, M30's, and current have RTI8's, aside from RTI8's which are a different beast altogether I would say for the price and form factor these were just plain fantastic. Please keep in mind that there are sub $300 speakers so don't go in there expecting miracles but for the price at 180 these are still a fantastic value.

This speaker set pretty much blows most 5.1/7.1 sets under $400 out of the water. While you won't get a sub with this set the speakers themselves are superior to most others in the price range. This deal is great for people who don't want to get Htib's and want to build a more custom home theater but at the same time don't want to go all in and speed 300 bucks on just two speakers. With this set you can pair them with a nice receiver and when you get enough cash in the next few months buy a nice HSU sub or something. Then maybe down the line upgrade to some nice towers or better bookshelf speakers and a new center . |

I am torn, bought the 5.0 Pioneer set on sale at Best Buy, I know a significant decrease in quality but would save $160 for me, and I am very concerned that the condo I am moving into will have thin walls! Love the floorstanding format for my fronts, but the Pioneer center and rears are HUGE, would love the wall mountable like these...

I found these disappointing myself. They do have decent audio quality but are just too small to fil a room like larger speakers.
I totaly disagree with the Polk center vs this center. I have the CS1 and it blows the center in this set away. I found myself constantly tweaking receiver setings and volume trying to get the center in this set to satisfactory but it just never happened. |
