This chainsaw has excellent reviews all around, with the main complaint being tough starts (which many other reviewers are calling user error).

For comparison; Amazon currently has the same unit reconditioned for $217 shipped and new at $260.

**UPDATE**

I received my saw 2 days after placing my order. It arrived in great shape, was simple to assemble, fired up easily, and ran like a champ! I limbed and bucked a 20' pine with a 12-14" diameter base that had fallen in our back yard within a 20 minute period. The saw through nice wood chips, and breezed right through it, never bogging or stalling. It's a cake walk to start if you simply read the directions!!

You can expect the chainsaw to have a couple minor cosmetic blemishes (nothing that really detracts from the overall condition and none that affect functionality), a branded "R" on the bottom for "Refurbished", and a small three digit code writtin in Sharpie by Husqvarna representing overall unit condition (see the third page of this thread for further information). There may be some residual oil in the box - this is normal, and is from the chain oiling mechanism.

Exactly! I purchased a blendtec blender from them. It looks like it has been used for 1 million years. VMInnovations purchased used stuff, clean them up and sell them as "refurbished". It's not like most refurbs are actually returns in like new condition. You can easily find a much cheaper one on ebay if you are OK with well used condition. Someone who purchased this chain saw from them said it comes with gas in the tank. Don't buy from them! Voted down because of poor reputation.

According to the listing "This factory renewed Husqvarna 435" implies it was refurbished by Husqvarna, not VM Innovations. Where did you learn of the people complaining of getting used goods? Were they talking about this chainsaw, or about the seller in general?

I just bought one of these today with the 5%. Saving 40% off of the new price was worth the risk of buying refurbished to me, assuming it was factory restored.

Hmm, that's very interesting about the 'used goods'...

I'm going to take my chances - can always go through the credit card company if something sketchy happens, but here's what I can offer thus far:

The company has been VERY responsive via email. They shipped the chainsaw within 1.5 hours after my purchase, and FedEx has it scheduled to deliver Friday.

Regarding purchasing this chainsaw on eBay... You aren't going to find a better deal unless it's refurbished, reconditioned or used... and at quick glance, VMInnovations has some of the better deals on eBay as well, and their overall eBay feedback is excellent:

I don't really care about the company 'buying off' bad feedback according to the one Amazon review - it's a common practice - and in my eyes, as long as the issue is resolved, it's simply reimbursement for the issue and finalized resolution...

Also, between Amazon and eBay they have ~415K feedback averaging ~99.7% positive... I'm pretty sure the company will work with someone who receives a crap product...
