I purchased the Husky 445 for $161 last year from VM Innovations and the chainsaw rocks. Mine looked brand new, bar was new, new chain - runs like a champ. I have cut down a 100 trees with and it is still running great. I think you will be very happy with your purchase.
I fired up the chainsaw today! It started quickly and easily (simple directions), and ran like a champ!
I am 100% completely satisfied with this purchase and overall value! Seriously, ~$142 for this chainsaw is incredible. You do need to expect a refurbished item, however the overall condition of mine is very nice (the bar does show signs of usage, and the bottom has a couple scuffs, but it's aesthetically pleasing overall and most importantly it runs flawlessly.
Deal's still going - I'm surprised this thread only has three thumbs up while the same product from the same vendor at ~$170 has 10 thumbs up...
If you go to the VMInnovations website and click on the 435, that is the direct link provided... I have noticed that many of the links I click within SlickDeals temporarily redirect through other sites... Not sure what to make of it.
Actually, I'm pretty sure it's something to do with SlickDeals... If you scroll your mouse over any of the links and look at the bottom of the page at the full link address, the site apparently converts them to slickdeals.net links.

I finally got to go at the tree in the back yard with my 435!! It was a ~20' pine with ~12" base, and this saw limbed / bucked it like a champ. Haha it was probably even overkill - tore through the soft wood like a hot knife through butter and I was done in less than 20 minutes (including prep, starting, and shifting limbed branches out of the way). The cleanup took longer than the whole rest of the process!
The saw fires up like a champ, stays awake (no stalling at all) and didn't bog at all. The chain is sharp, and threw nice wood chips.
I actually wish I had more stuff to cut! I didn't even get to use a full tank of gas :-(
Anyhow, I reaffirm my recommendation... This is a great deal.
I finally used mine today. It was my first time using a gas chainsaw. The starting wasn't nearly as much of a hassle as I expected from reading the manual and watching videos on YouTube.
I cleared a 30 or 40' fir tree that had snapped in half. I felled the remaining half and bucked up the trunk. The saw worked great. I'm extremely pleased with the purchase. It didn't arrive new, but a new one would be indistinguishable from this one after the hour of use it now has (except for the stupid number written on it with a sharpie).
Now that I think about it after seeing prodigy79s post, it did stall a couple of times while idling. I had forgotten because it wasn't a big deal and restarting while hot is so easy. I guess that means it might need a bit of adjustment?
Regarding the sharpie marks - I did a bit of research an found that Husqvarna has a couple markings that they place on refurbished units to designate the condition of the unit. I found the information last week, and I can't seem to locate it right now, but I'll post a link if I can dig it back up.
Regarding the stalling - I just let my saw idle for a half minute or so, then revved it up and it had no issues at all. If it stalls even when warmed up, you may need to adjust the carburetor. There are guides available on-line for how to do so, but if you aren't comfortable messing with it, your local dealer may be willing to help out. I actually ran mine by a local dealer just to have it checked out before I fired it up the first time (just to make sure everything was kosher after reading some of the complaints), and they went over it pretty thoroughly for free.
Used mine for the first time yesterday for about an hour. No problems at all. Saw met my expectations.
Only negative is my saw did not come with a transparent fuel indicator as indicated in the discription
Funny you should mention that. After using mine the one time I was was reading about it on one of these sites and saw that it supposedly had the fuel level indicator and thought, "I don't remember seeing that, I'll have to check more closely next time". Still haven't checked. Bummer if its not there, sounds like a useful feature.
