Deal Details

Last Edited by weekrish January 19, 2012 at 06:39 AM
Received a postcard in the mail with a promo code for Free Federal e-File and $4.95 for each State e-File

This is only available for people who have not used taxslayer.com to file their 2010 Tax returns last year.

This is for their classic edition which provides a guide for entering deductions and does not have any income restrictions unlike other free Federal e-File sites.

go to Taxslayer.com and click Sign in->"Start for Free"
Below the form to enter personal details you will see a link to "Received a postcard code? Click Here." .
Enter "FEDERAL12" in the promo code box and continue filing you tax return.

In the penultimate screen just before you pay for your filing fee you will see that the price has dropped from $14.90 to $4.95 for both Federal and one State e-Filing .
(Dont be alarmed if you see $14.90 in the previous screens. You have to continue to the last step to see the promo price)

I have used Taxslayer.com for years and have always received the best service. I hope more people are able to take advantage of this.

Does TaxSlayer allow for full functionality when it comes to tax prep, or do they only offer the free service for the 1040EZ-type customers?

Hi

This is for the classic Taxslayer edition (not 1040EZ type) which comes with step by step guidance as stated in my post above.

I usually use Turbo Tax. I'm sure there's no real difference between the two, correct?

A couple of reviews rated Taxslayer really bad for ease of use and other features. Stick with Turbotax or Taxact.

I have used taxslayer the past few years and have compared it to turbotax, H&R, and a few others and came out with the same results. I found it simple and easy to use.

I used Taxslayer last year, and payed full price, no coupons. I had planned on using them this year too, until I saw this thread. It pisses me off that I'm excluded from this deal. I could understand if I had used a coupon code previously.

Anyhow, I'm stubborn, I've been known to cut off my nose to spite my face, when the circumstances warranted it. What's the next least expensive option to Taxslayer?

I believe the next cheapest that included efiling for both federal and state was TaxAct for $11.90. http://slickdeals.net/f/3809462-TaxAct-Deluxe-State-11-90

I'm interested and I also want to know if the price includes investment / trade income tax instead of 1040EZ only.

I tried turbotax basic last year and it was not good. They only covered the simple stuff that I could just fill the form (1040ez) with pencil and pen but lack of investment support which was what I needed. I ended up paying $14.99 for the extra feature and felt like bait-and-switch.

I've been using Taxslayer for about 5 years and am very happy with it. I compared it with Turbotax during my first year and found the two to be similar. nod
Taxslayer is definitely worth checking out for someone who has never used it before!

Post links or you're a liar, I've used both TT and TS and TS is much better and 1/3 the price.

So you avoid all companies who offer new customer promos? Must suck not to be able to buy any goods or services anywhere...
