Making a large purchase, over 5k, any credit card suggestions?

In all honesty, $5k is really nothing. Maybe it's a lot of money to you, but not to a CC company. It's not like they have tiered programs based on the cost of a single purchase. And for that amount of money, almost any good card is going to have the basically same benefits. Depending on what the purchase type is (ie: travel, entertainment, etc.) some cards offer special bonuses for points. Also, depending on where/how you purchase it, you can get extra bonus points (10x for example at Target.com and Amex). But most of the good cards have the same type of ratios on these categories.

Without knowing any of the specifics of your purchase, your question is impossible to answer.

Also, if you aren't planning on paying it off right away, the length of time it is going to take, and the interest that you'll pay for this loan, is much more important then points or rebates. Getting 1-5% back in rewards is irrelevant if you plan on paying it off over two years on a card with 8-20% interest. In that case, your best bet is to get a new card with a promotional 0% interest rate on new purchases.

Citi thankyou card, $500 in gift cards for $2500 spend in 3 months. If you spend $5000, you would actually get $550 in gift cards.
