Which internet radio service? Maybe a used iPod touch? Several internet radio apps for all iPod Touch versions.

I agree which service or app are you looking to use? You won't find a tablet for that price but you can find used older android phones that should meet those needs if your stream/app is android friendly.

If you have most of the hardware already, you can hack one with a wifi router:

If you could expand your budget (double it) I would suggest a squeezebox. My wife loves hers. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&...qytejfsl_b

Why are you after that model only? You should be able to find a Motorola Droid X or HTC Incredible. Load up Cyanogenmod 7 on them and be good to go.

Also on the old computer, just because it has a 430w power supply doesn't mean it will actually draw 430w. I would guess idle load while streaming radio without a monitor would be under 150w.

Probably far less than that. I think my two desktops and internet gear draw around 220W during idle/light use.

However, the OP does have a point. A smaller device will use a lot less power and will most certainly be smaller, quieter and possibly easier to manage.

Oh I agree to all of that. It sounds like he is trying to do it as cheap as possible, and the device you have is far cheaper than the device you have to buy. In reality the power use is pretty small in terms of cost, assuming you would sleep the PC during night or when not in use.

Yeah, get a used apple ipod touch, which will probably cost a little more. And grab TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Pandora and ooTunes. Those are 4 really good internet radio apps.

You may be able to find something like a Nokia N800 or N810 for a very low price. Not an amazing tablet at all, but it can stream radio well enough. Also works as a Skype handset if you want.

Wouldn't pay much more than $50 for it though, any more than that and you could find an iPod Touch.
